Former Washington Commanders billionaire owner Dan Snyder has never been shy about his support for former United States President Donald Trump as he has donated well over $1 million to Trump’s political campaigns in the past. And Snyder recently thought he was making another big move of support for Trump – but it turned out to be a terrible and costly mistake.

According to a report from Variety, Dan Snyder helped finance a new film called The Apprentice that details the early life and business career of Donald Trump. Snyder was apparently under the impression that the film was going to show Trump in a positive light. But when he saw the film, he was “furious” at the way Trump was portrayed and tried to get lawyers  to shut the movie down.

“Sources say Snyder, a friend of Trump’s who donated $1.1. million to his inaugural committee and Trump Victory in 2016 and $100,000 to his 2020 presidential campaign, put money into the film via Kinematics because he was under the impression that it was a flattering portrayal of the 45th president. Snyder finally saw a cut of the film in February and was said to be furious. Kinematics’ lawyers were enlisted to fight the release of The Apprentice, and the cease-and-desist letters began flying,” Variety reported.

Snyder thought he was financing a movie that would praise Trump and instead financed a film that was very critical of Trump. It was a terrible mistake from the former NFL owner, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

The film is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival in France this week.
