Donald Trump has been making waves in the sports world recently, as the viral “Donald Dance” has been used by athletes after big plays. However, the President-elect is still going to be back in the Oval Office, and with that comes major policy decisions.
Trump recently revealed some of what he has planned on social media, and it could have some brutal consequences for everyday Americans.
“As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before. Right now a Caravan coming from Mexico, composed of thousands of people, seems to be unstoppable in its quest to come through our currently Open Border. On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders. This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country! Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!” Trump shared on Truth Social.
This could have a devastating impact on goods the United States imports from Mexico, like fruit. Fans reacted to Trump’s statement on social media.
“Gonna make sure I post every avocado I buy and scream about how Trump made it cost so much,” one fan said on Twitter.
“There goes my avocado & tiguan,” one fan added.
“I can see the prices going up now,” another person added.
“The fact he thinks that’s going to make any impact whatsoever on the flow of drugs. Why doesn’t he first understand a situation before he just starts gunslinging. I see there is no mention that the American consumer is going to pay for this in a big way. Will make no dent,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Trump follows through and what the consequences will be if so.
