On Sunday, United States President Joe Biden officially announced that he will not be pursuing re-election and has dropped out of the presidential race against Donald Trump. And WNBA rookie sensation Angel Reese was quick to offer her surprised reaction.

Joe Biden announced his decision on social media, indicating that he believes pulling out of the presidential race will be in the best interest of the country and the Democratic party.

“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a letter.

He added: “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Upon hearing the news, Angel Reese quickly expressed her confusion.

“wait what’s going on rn….” Reese said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s not clear exactly who will replace Biden in the race, but he has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who would become the first female president.
