8. Freestyle Skiing/Snowboarding – Halfpipe
The halfpipe looks like fun on TV. You go up one side, you go up the other. Whheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Have you ever stood in the middle of one of these things? In a word: terrifying. The walls are so much bigger than you think. Just going up side to side seems like an advanced part of skiing or snowboarding, much less going 13-15 feet up in the air on each side. It takes incredible strength and endurance to hit these halfpipes trick after trick, run after run. Plus you have to be creative in a sport that constantly requires innovation. And not to mention the halfpipe in Sochi isn’t exactly up to standards, making things even harder.
