During Canada’s 3-0 victory over Finland in women’s ice hockey on Monday morning, Canadian forward Jenn Wakefield escaped a scary collision with a rink stanchion without suffering any serious injuries. The incident was eerily similar to the Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty that resulted in a fractured vertebra and a severe concussion for the Canadiens forward in 2011.
Also, check out the Finnish trainer coming to the rescue and shutting the bench door just in time.
Thankfully, a disaster was narrowly averted and Wakefield – a senior standout for the Boston University Terriers – looks to be okay.
