On Saturday afternoon, Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark got some incredibly disappointing news on Saturday afternoon when she was left off the Team USA roster for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. But it sounds like she’s going to be using the snub as motivation going forward.
While Caitlin Clark has not yet commented on the decision from Team USA herself, Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides revealed her star player’s reaction to the news on Sunday. And it sounds like Clark had a pretty clear message for Team USA and the rest of women’s college basketball as a result.
“We talked, actually, on the bus. She got the call on the bus, and she texted me to let me know. I just try to keep her spirits,” Sides said in a video shared by Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star. “One thing she said was ‘Hey coach, they woke a monster,’ which I thought was awesome.”
Obviously, Clark will not have a chance to represent her country as a member of Team USA at the Olympics this summer. But it sounds like she is going to do everything she can to make sure the team regrets that decision.
