Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark was not included on this year’s Team USA roster for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. And even though one sign from a fan suggested that the team would need her during Monday’s showdown with Japan, they proved that message incorrect.

Before Monday afternoon’s game between Team USA and Japan, a Japanese fan held a sign that called out Team USA for not picking Caitlin Clark for the roster.

“You need Caitlin Clark to beat us” the sign read.

Team USA star A’ja Wilson was the first member of the American squad to notice the sign and she quickly pointed it out to her teammates. Several members of the team had pretty animated reactions to the sign and looked at the sign with amusement as they continued warming up for the game.

But the team also seemed to react to the sign with their performance on the court, as well.

Team USA wasted no time in proving that they did not, in fact, need Caitlin Clark to beat Japan. The United States absolutely dominated Japan on the court, winning their first game of the Olympics by a final score of 102-76, outscoring Japan in every single quarter of the game to pull off a blowout win.

Clearly, they proved the sign wrong.
