On Tuesday afternoon, the United States Women’s Gymnastics Team won the gold medal in the team competition at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as legendary American gymnast Simone Biles led the way for the team while also becoming the most decorated American gymnast hin history. It was a massive moment of celebration for Biles, Team USA, and the nation as a whole, and former United States President Barack Obama couldn’t help but join in.
Following news of their victory on Tuesday afternoon, Barack Obama took to social media to congratulate the team on the gold medal and Simone Biles on making history, calling her “The GOAT.”
“Congrats to the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team for winning gold and to the GOAT [Simone Biles] for becoming the most decorated American gymnast in history!” Obama said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The gold medal makes Biles the most decorated gymnast in Team USA history, giving her eight medals throughout her legendary gymnastics career – five gold, one silver, and two bronze.
Biles has a chance to further add to that total as she is set to compete in four more events at this year’s games, giving her four more chances to win medals.
