For about a decade and a half, Alex Morgan has been one of the most prominent faces of the United States Women’s National Team, serving as one of the team’s captains from 2016 to 2020. But when the team heads to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, Morgan will not be with the team.
On Wednesday, the USWNT announced their official roster for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, but the legendary Alex Morgan did not make the cut.
Morgan was obviously quite disappointed by this decision, but she also took to social media to make it clear that she will be supporting the team even if she is not on the roster.
“Today, I’m disappointed about not having the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic stage. This will always be a tournament that is close to my heart and I take immense pride any time I put on the crest. In less than a month, I look forward to supporting this team and cheering them on alongside the rest of our country,” said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Morgan won two World Cup titles and an Olympic gold medal during her time with the team.
