Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, the two biggest free agents of the 2012 class have just signed with…wait for it, wait for it…The Minnesota Wild. If you didn’t see this coming, join the club. A fellow Cosby Sweaters staffer is a Minnesota native and tweeted me yesterday saying, “Feel free to get a jump on your next article: Parise signs with Wild,” to which I replied “Keep dreaming, buddy! I think he actually wants to win a cup.” Apparently I should have taken his advice instead of running my mouth.
Zach Parise scored 31 goals during the regular season and as we all know, led the New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup Finals. Defenseman Ryan Suter had 7 goals and 39 assists during the regular season with the Nashville Predators and will be an enormous asset to the Minnesota blue line. Both guys signed a 13-year, $98 million deal. I would imagine the entire state of Minnesota will be celebrating America’s birthday a little extra hard today. Go for it, you deserve it!
