When you think of repeat divers in the NHL, goalies aren’t typically the guys who come to mind. However, this week Michal Neuvirth of the Buffalo Sabres became the first goaltender to be fined by the NHL for embellishment since the league established supplemental diving penalties prior to the 2014-2015 season.
Neuvirth was given a warning after the league determined he embellished a call during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs back in November, and was once again determined to have embellished a goaltender interference penalty (GIF above) during this past Sunday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
As a result, the goaltender will have to pay a $2,000 fine.
