Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone’s face was plastered across the country after a DUI arrest in April, one that also led to the discovery of cocaine.
While the DUI charges are severe and could hurt the remainder of his NHL career, the 1.3 grams of cocaine specifically raised eyebrows across the league. Malone, however, has no clue how the drugs were found in his pocket. The following was said regarding the situation (via the Tampa Bay Times):
Malone told Visser her didn’t believe the officer planted the drugs on him, according to the documents, but he was baffled because he was wearing the same jeans for three days.
The former St. Cloud State star remains an unrestricted free agent and likely will not receive a deal until all the details emerge from the case and a thorough review of his condition is conducted.
