Detroit Red Wings forward Drew Miller had a horrifying run-in with a skate blade of Ottawa’s Mark Stone just a few minutes into the first period of Tuesday night’s Wings game against the Senators.
Stone’s skate came up and caught Miller just under the right eye as the Senators forward fell to the ice trying to make a pass off a faceoff in the offensive zone. Miller suffered some lacerations and immediately skated off the ice for repairs but, thankfully, it appears that the damage – though apparently serious – did not include the eye itself.
Drew Miller's return is doubtful. Sustained two deep lacerations near right eye. Being evaluated by team doctors at the moment, per Wings

Always sucks to see something like that go down, but hopefully the damage is limited.
Update: Here’s the damage. Miller must have a guardian angel looking out for that right eye of his…holy moly.
Thank God, Miller's eye was not damaged. pic.twitter.com/0oKR3YO2YF
