A group of Ottawa Senators players were caught on camera openly mocking the team’s defensive struggles, special teams and a coach in a shocking video which has emerged on Monday.

The Ottawa Citizen reports in the video, star forward Matt Duchene and a group of Senators players are driving together in an Uber – estimated to be last week between Oct. 29th and 30th – where they can be overheard mocking special teams coach Martin Raymond.
“Marty Raymond, the only coach in NHL history to have the worst power-play and the worst PK within a calendar year,”
Defenseman Chris Wideman added when he paid attention to Raymond’s video sessions, he noticed it “doesn’t ever teach you anything? He just commentates what’s happening.”
Duchene responds that the Sens don’t ever change anything and that he hasn’t “paid attention” to team meetings in “three weeks.”
Raymond has served as assistant coach in Ottawa since 2016. He previously served as a coach on Guy Boucher’s staff. The Sens have ranked near dead last in penalty killing this season.
Duchene, Wideman, defenseman Thomas Chabot, defenseman Dylan DeMelo and winger Alex Formenton are all seen in the vehicle. There are multiple shots taken against Raymond and the team’s special teams.
In a rebuilding season, the video is the latest embarrassment for the Canadian hockey club. Attendance has been poor mostly due to owner Eugene Melnyk’s poor handling of many things, mainly how the Erik Karlsson trade and subsequent rebuilding talk went down. The team stinks also stinks and isn’t going to be good for a long time. And now, there’s a video of players airing dirty laundry while an Uber driver (who shouldn’t have been recording) caught it all on camera. Yikes.
