Sunday afternoon’s game between the Blue Jackets and Kings in Los Angeles was halted during the third period following a collision along the boards that left Columbus forward Nick Foligno lying motionless on the ice.
Foligno got tangled up with Kings forward Jeff Carter in a puck battle along the the Kings bench and wound up gliding headfirst into a linesman that had hopped up on top of the bench in an attempt to get out of the way. Foligno immediately went down to the ice following the collision and was tended to by Columbus’ medical staff.
Foligno was eventually stretched off, but he did manage to wave to the cheering crowd before heading down the tunnel. The Blue Jackets gave these positive updates shortly after:
#CBJ F Nick Foligno is alert, has full movement in his limbs and is talking with doctors. Will have precautionary x-rays at STAPLES Center.

It’s been a tough few days for the Blue Jackets injury-wise. During Friday’s game against the Ducks, forward Adam Cracknell suffered an ugly leg injury and Cam Atkinson narrowly escaped a horrific incident after taking a skate to the face.
