Last night’s Leafs-Kings game in Los Angeles provided us with one of the better sequences we’ll see this season. Tied at two with the Kings on the power play five minutes into the third period, Toronto goalie James Reimer made an amazing toe save to deny Anze Kopitar on the doorstep. (It wasn’t the first time Anze got robbed like that, either.)
Kopitar then missed the rebound opportunity high, sending the puck around the endboards and towards the blue line, where the Leafs’ James van Riemsdyk picked it up for a two-on-one rush with teammate Mason Raymond the other way. JVR fed Raymond as soon as they crossed into the zone and Raymond teed one up top corner on Jonathan Quick for a shorthanded tally that would eventually prove to be the game-winner.
