Notorious NHL cheap shot artist Matt Cooke – who, after staying out of trouble for the past few years, insists that he has reformed his game – was back to his old tricks during Monday night’s Game 3 in Minnesota. In the second period, Cooke was penalized for kneeing Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie on a bad play that will land Cooke with a fine or suspension from the league.
Barrie was injured on the play and immediately grabbed his leg/knee after hitting the ice. He was later ruled out 4-6 weeks with an MCL injury.
Update: Cooke has been suspended 7 games by the NHL.
