The L.A. Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche last night at Staples Center with the help of Mike Richards, who recorded a goal and an assist in the 3-2 victory. As the game’s No. 1 star, Richards went to toss his game-used stick over the glass to a young fan being propped up against the boards by his mother. The excitement proved to be all too much for the mother, who threw both hands in the air to grab the stick, subsequently dropping her poor child to the ground. Thankfully, television cameras were there to capture the event. Let this be a lesson in priorities. Hockey comes first.
