The New York Islanders managed to climb back from two two-goal deficits in Toronto on Monday night and win in the final minute of overtime on a gorgeous John Tavares goal. The Islanders captain – also the NHL’s leading scorer – took the puck from a teammate at center ice and managed to skate around the Leafs’ defense before potting the game’s winning goal past Jonathan Bernier.
It was a fantastic individual effort from Tavares and a great sendoff for his parents, who were in attendance at the Air Canada Centre.
