Fans, inebriated or not, have been attempting to distract opposing players or grab a moment in the spotlight for years, from nude overaggressive on-field dashes to the air horn. One fan at the Devils-Bruins game this week decided to toss a full hot dog, bun included, onto the ice as the Bruins’ Tyle Seguin shot on Devils’ goaltender Johan Hedberg in a shootout.
While it appears Hedberg was never affected by the flying meat during the successful attempt by Seguin, the Bruins center was forced to attempt his shot over again. It is unclear if the hot dog was tossed to distract Seguin or Hedberg.
