Maybe NHL players should just live in a plastic bubble when they are away from the ice. It doesn’t matter if they are eating pancakes, picking up a crack from the floor, or spending a relaxing day on a boat, they just can’t resist injuring themselves in bizarre ways.
This years victim is Philadelphia Flyer captain Claude Giroux who fell victim to a golf club malfunction during a recent outing. According to team officials the club shattered which sent splinters from the shaft into Giroux’s fingers, severely damaging a several tendons. Surgery was performed earlier today in Ottawa and he’ll reportedly be out 5-6 weeks.
Giroux will be happy to hear that no matter how absurd this story sounds, it will always be a distant number two when it comes to NHL related injuries on the golf course. Erik Johnson and his mangled knee via golf cart will forever hold that spot.
