The New York Rangers got a big win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, giving them the two points they needed to put them atop the Eastern Conference for the time being. The victory dagger was plunged late in the third period when Chris Kreider showed great anticipation and picked off a pass in the defensive zone, then turned on the jets to torch the Caps’ defense heading the other way.
Kreider blazed his way down the ice with teammate Martin St. Louis at his side, eventually dishing to Marty for the easy one-time finish past Braden Holtby to put the Rangers ahead 3-1, which ultimately was the game’s final scoreline.
