Connor McDavid is ‘the next big thing’ in hockey, expected by most to be the top overall draft pick in this year’s NHL Draft. If owning a jersey worn by ‘the next big thing’ is on your to-do list…well, you better start saving your pennies, son.
A Team Canada sweater than was worn by McDavid in the World Junior Championships recently has been listed on eBay, and the pricetag is absolutely insane. At the time of writing this post, the highest bid on the jersey sits at $17,800. Oh, and there’s still three days left before the auction closes.
Is that an insane amount of money for a jersey won by a 17-year old? Yes, but McDavid is widely considered to be the best prospect to come out of Canada since Sidney Crosby and he’s done a great job in helping the Canadians dominate the competition at the WJC, racking up 7 points in 5 games so far.
Canada takes on Russia tonight in the gold medal game and – here’s a scary thought – if they win, the price of this jersey could soar even higher.
