NBC’s rinkside reporter Brian Engblom had a rough night at the office during the Penguins-Sharks game on Sunday. Towards the conclusion of the second period, Engblom took a deflected puck straight off the forehead while he stood in his office between the two benches.
The puck immediately opened up a pretty good laceration right in the middle of his forehead and – with the help of Pittsburgh’s training staff – Engblom was immediately helped off the ice and to the locker room for repairs.
On the other side of intermission, Engblom emerged looking like this:
Some stitches were clearly necessary but, fortunately, serious injury was avoided and Engblom got to return to his post for the remainder of the game. Judging by that smile, he’s not too upset about the occupational hazards that come with his job.
