While no move has been made yet, the New York Jets continue to insist that they are open to trading quarterback Zach Wilson. So with his status in the team uncertain, it sounds like Wilson has no interest in participating in the team’s voluntary offseason program.
According to a report from Rich Cimini of ESPN, Zach Wilson will not be participating in the team’s offseason program.
“New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, on the trading block since the start of the offseason, is skipping voluntary workouts as he remains in limbo with the NFL draft approaching next week,” Cimini wrote for ESPN this week.
As Cimini explains, the fact that Wilson is not participating in the offseason program this year indicates that he is not necessarily happy with the way the Jets have handled him this offseason.
“In his first three seasons, Wilson was always an active participant in the offseason program, so his absence is out of character and seems to indicate a level of frustration. Of course, the landscape has changed, as the organization has publicly declared its willingness to move on from the former starter,” Cimini wrote.
We’ll have to see what the Jets ultimately decide to do with Wilson before the start of the season.
