After he was benched from the team once again this week, the future of former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson with the New York Jets is once again in question, but Wilson isn’t thinking about that right now.

During his press conference on Wednesday following news that he had been benched in favor of Tim Boyle, Zach Wilson insisted that he has not yet thought about his future with the Jets or whether or not he could be parting ways with the team following the season.

“That’s not something I’ve thought about. It’s really not,” Wilson said according to Pro Football Talk. “I think where I’m at is I truly do have so much love and care for this offense. I’m really to the point where I want to see us succeed whether I’m out there or not.”

For now, Wilson is simply focused on helping the Jets however he can and supporting Boyle as he transitions into the starting role.

“Me and Timmy have grown extremely close,” Wilson explained. “He’s somebody I’m very close with, a very dear friend I have a lot of love for. How can I help him? How can I help the guys? How can I be a part of this team and this offense? Regardless of me being out there, I’ve got a lot of love for these guys and everyone in this locker room. So, how can I help them? And we’ll handle the rest later.”

At some point, Wilson and the Jets will have to have hard conversations about his future with or away from the team. But for now, they’re still focused on this season.
