Over the weekend, several online media outlets reported that Johnny Manziel had tweeted out his own phone number, presumably by accident. There was some speculation that Manziel had intended for the tweet to be a direct message to one of his followers, presumably an attractive female that he wished to “court.” It certainly wouldn’t be the first time an athlete made that embarrassing mistake.
But Manziel addressed the tweet on Monday, and it turns out it wasn’t his phone number…and it wasn’t a mistake.
Chris Mortensen reports Johnny Manziel purposely tweeted a friend's phone number to pull a prank on him. Sounds like a great friend.

The Browns quarterback had actually posted the phone number – belonging to one of his friends – intentionally as a prank. Manziel’s 1.2 million followers took the bait and, as you’d expect, it didn’t end well for his buddy’s phone. The number now leads straight to a full voicemail mailbox and we expect his pal no longer uses the number in question.
Reminds me of the time my college roommates decided to list my phone number on Craigslist under the “casual encounters” section. That was fun.
