The Washington Commanders selected reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft last month in hopes that he could blossom into their franchise quarterback of the future. And it sounds like head coach Dan Quinn is already impressed by what he has seen from the young quarterback in practice.
During a recent interview, Dan Quinn had some high praise for Jayden Daniels as he made it clear that the young quarterback is doing everything he needs to do in practice so far.
“He’s got a swagger to him,” Quinn said according to ESPN. “He really has a very firm handle on the things that we’re doing, but he also has the humility of a young player . . . knowing that he has a lot to prove.”
Unlike the Chicago Bears, who named Caleb Williams their starting quarterback before he had even taken a snap during practice, the Washington Commanders have not yet announced whether Daniels or veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota will be the team’s starter to begin the upcoming 2024 season.
But if Daniels keeps impressing the coaching staff the way he clearly has so far, it seems likely that he will ultimately earn the starting job at some point.
