Last season, Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson had some big games against the New Orleans Saints, racking up 254 combined yards on the ground and on the air while totaling three touchdowns in the two matchups. And it sounds like New Orleans Saints star defensive back Tyrann Mathieu took notice of this dominance from the young running back.
During a recent appearance on the Green Light Podcast with Chris Long, Tyrann Mathieu had some high praise for Bijan Robinson, comparing him to a few Hall of Fame running backs.
He also called out the Atlanta Falcons for failing to get the most out of him during his rookie season.
“He’s going to be special,” Mathieu said. “Marshall Faulk, you know. Edgerrin James, you know what I mean? Like, LaDainian Tomlinson, you know? And I didn’t think the Falcons really used him as good as they should have last year, but, man, he’s going to be good. He’s going to be real good.”
The Falcons have a new coaching staff this year after the team decided to fire previous head coach Arthur Smith. We’ll have to see whether or not the new regime in Atlanta can maximize Robinson’s potential.
