Last season, quarterback depth became very important for the Cleveland Browns as the team started three different players at quarterback when Deshaun Watson was not able to play due to injury. And it sounds like the team is doing everything it can to bolster its quarterback depth again this offseason.
According to a report from Jake Trotter of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns are bringing in veteran quarterback Tyler Huntley, who most recently played with the Baltimore Ravens, to join a quarterbacks room that is suddenly stacked with veteran players.
“The Cleveland Browns agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley on a one-year contract for the veterans minimum salary, a source told ESPN on Sunday,” Trotter wrote for ESPN.
“The Browns now have three quarterbacks on their roster behind starter Deshaun Watson. Cleveland signed Jameis Winston last week to be Watson’s backup. The Browns also have Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who started three games as a rookie last season after being a fifth-round selection out of UCLA.”
Obviously, this is a pretty significant move from the Browns, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
Backup QB situation in Cleveland is looking significantly better than last year’s disaster. https://t.co/6tJkqzaKuq

Surprised Huntley hasn't gotten more of a shot somewhere, he was a high-level backup in Baltimore and seems to be closer to the Gardner Minshew/Jacoby Brisett level than a third QB. https://t.co/KSpvJRs8Nz

We’ll have to see who emerges as the starter for the Browns next season.
