The Miami Dolphins and their vaunted passing attack will be taking on the New York Jets and their stingy secondary on Black Friday. While it should be a tough battle between Dolphins receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and Jets corners Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed, Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is confident in his guys.
During his press conference this week, Tua Tagovailoa was asked his impressions on the Jets’ defense – particularly Gardner and Reed – but he made it clear that while he respects his opponent, he trusts his teammates to make a play.
“I’m aware where everyone is on the field,” Tagovailoa said according to Pro Football Talk. “But when it comes to matchups, for me I’m always going to take our guys regardless of who’s covering them. I will get off of those guys if they have help on top, but if it’s just a one-on-one, I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt to our guys winning that battle.”
Still, Tagovailoa acknowledges that the Jets have a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball and that the matchup won’t be easy for his Dolphins.
“But they’ve got a talented defense. They’ve got really good guys up front within their front seven and their guys in the back are really good as well. Some guys are banged up, but they haven’t missed a beat defensively. We know this is going to be a really tough challenge and we’re looking forward to it.”
It’s a strength-on-strength matchup for both teams. It will certainly be interesting to see who comes out on top.
