Troy Aikman is the most iconic quarterback ever to play for the Dallas Cowboys, leading the team to three Super Bowl championships during his playing career. And it sounds like he still believes that current quarterback Dak Prescott can lead the team to a title, too.
Even though the Cowboys are 2-5 in the playoffs under Dak Prescott and have never gone further than the divisional round with him under center, Troy Aikman recently made it clear that he still has faith in Prescott as the team’s starting quarterback.
“I still believe in Dak,” Aikman said last week according to Mike Fisher of Athlon. “I think that until you do it, there’s always those criticisms. I know Peyton Manning went through that. His first three years, he didn’t win a playoff game, and then you look back on it now and you can’t imagine that anyone would question whether or not he could win a playoff game.”
Prescott is in the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys and is set to become a free agent next offseason unless the team reaches an agreement on a new contract with him. So there’s a chance this will be his last chance to lead the Cowboys deep into the postseason.
