There was a chance that Sunday’s Grammy Awards could have been the first public appearance for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as a couple, but it’s not going to happen. And host Trevor Noah is actually happy about that, for a pretty wholesome reason.
Travis Kelce would only have been able to attend the Grammy Awards with Taylor Swift if the Kansas City Chiefs had lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game last weekend. But in a recent interview with Billboard, Trevor Noah revealed that he is so fond of Kelce that he actually hoped that he wouldn’t see him at the awards because he wanted to see Kelce succeed in everything he does.
“Well, I’m hoping that the Chiefs don’t lose because I really like Travis. He’s like one of the sweetest human beings I’ve ever met. He’s a really lovely guy,” Noah said. “I met him years and years ago in the summer [in] upstate [NY]. He was just like this sweet guy. We talked about comedy and football. He was really wonderful to everyone around him. I had no clue who he was in that way. Ever since then his star has only risen. So I’m rooting for him 1000 times over. So I actually hope that I don’t see him because he’s still in the mix and he’s still doing well. But if anything changes, I’ll be ready. And that’s what being a host is all about.”
Obviously, Noah got his wish. The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Ravens to advance to the Super Bowl, meaning Kelce will not be able to attend the Grammy’s as he prepares to compete for a championship.
Noah will miss seeing him, but it sounds like he’s happy for his friend.
