Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has earned his reputation as one of the most dominant and successful players at his position in NFL history, but he has also been known to draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty from time to time, just like he did last month.

During Kansas City’s Christmas Day showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Travis Kelce broke the franchise record for touchdown receptions previously held by Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez. However, his celebration landed him in a little bit of trouble.

After scoring the touchdown, Kelce took the ball and dunked it over the crossbar, earning an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

But Kelce’s punishment didn’t stop there.

According to a report from Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Kelce has been fined $14,069 for violating NFL rules by using a prop during his touchdown celebration.

“The NFL fined #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct (use of prop) — dunking over the crossbar on Christmas in tribute to Tony Gonzalez after breaking his franchise TD record,” Pelissero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Gonzalez posted he’ll help with the fine,” Pelissero continued.

Kelce is now preparing for the postseason after the Chiefs earned the No. 1 overall seed in the postseason.

As they enter the postseason, Kelce and the Chiefs are looking to win an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl.

We’ll have to see whether or not they can do it.
