The Kansas City Chiefs are 11-1 and have sole possession of the first overall seed in the AFC as things stand currently.
However, many have felt that Kansas City has looked more vulnerable than ever during this season’s chase for their third consecutive Super Bowl championship. A lot of fans’ and pundits’ concerns have centered around the performance of star players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Mahomes has had problems with throwing an unusually high number of interceptions this season, and Kelce hasn’t been able to match his production from previous years, despite playing more snaps than he typically would.
Kelce hosts a podcast with his brother Jason, “New Heights,” and in a recent episode, he spoke about his frustrations with how the season has unfolded, and how he’s struggling to stay connected with Mahomes this year.
“That was the biggest thing for me was, and where I take a lot of pride is, once we get into that red zone, man, I get a little bit hungrier, and right now, for whatever reason, I can’t find my way into the end zone,” Kelce said on the episode.
“I am not on the same page as Pat. And it can get frustrating. It can get (expletive) frustrating.”
“It has been more than one play,” Travis responded when Jason noted that he noticed one play where he noticed they were clearly not on the same page.
It’ll be interesting to see if the pair can rectify their issues before the playoffs start.
