It sounds like the FBI is now getting involved in an investigation into the break-ins at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

TMZ Sports reported on Tuesday afternoon that the homes of both Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were burglarized last month during their game against the New Orleans Saints.

According to police reports obtained by TMZ, Kelce had $20,000 in cash stolen from his home and his back door was damaged in the break-ins.

Shortly after breaking the initial story, TMZ Sports went on to report that the FBI has joined local authorities in the investigation.

“Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ … the FBI is assisting the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the Mahomes incident, and joining forces with the Leawood Police Department to probe the Kelce crime,” TMZ reported on

This seems to indicate that it is a serious incident, not just a standard burglary.

“The FBI getting involved means this is a pretty big deal, and not just because Patrick and Travis are famous athletes,” TMZ reported on Tuesday. “Our sources tell us the feds would NOT get involved if this were a run of the mill burglary spree on the local level … and the FBI’s involvement here indicates the case could involve organized crime crossing state lines.”

Needless to say, the news that the FBI was getting involved in the investigation led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“Oh this is now getting interesting,” one person wrote on X.

“The FBI’s involvement brings an added layer of expertise to the investigation, ensuring a thorough pursuit of justice. With their support, there’s confidence that those responsible will be held accountable,” someone else added.

“Hope the FBI gets to the bottom of this soon and justice is served!” another person said.

“Why do they get FBI? Burglaries of average citizens happen every day and they’re lucky to get a police report,” someone else said.

“Wow celebs get the FBI and the rest of us can wait hours for local police,” another person added.

“I’m starting to think that the Chiefs are being targeted,” another fan added.

“Gee, I wonder if the FBI would be involved if my home was burglarized?” someone else questioned.

We’ll have to see whether or not the FBI helps solve this case.
