When Tom Brady joined the ownership group of the Birmingham City soccer club in England, he undoubtedly hoped to help lead the team to a lot of success, especially with him taking an active role in the club. But that’s definitely not what happened as the team has now been relegated.

Tom Brady became a minority owner of the team back in August and he did not take a simple ceremonial ownership role with the club. Instead, he had a role across “several components of the Club.”

“As Chairman of the Advisory Board, Brady will apply his extensive leadership experience and expertise across several components of the Club, including working alongside the sports science department to advise on health, nutrition, wellness, and recovery systems and programs. In addition, Brady will work closely with the Board and the management team on global marketing efforts and the identification of new commercial partnership opportunities for the Club,” the club explained of Brady’s role when he joined the ownership stake.

Unfortunately for Brady, whatever he brought to the team was not good enough. On Saturday, Birmingham City officially finished No. 22 in the Championship this season and has now been relegated down to League One following Brady’s first season with the club.

The relegation comes after the team decided to fire manager John Eustace in October when they were ranked No. 6 in the league table. The team hired former soccer star Wayne Rooney to replace him and the team plummeted all the way to 20th after just 15 matches.

Obviously, this is horrible news for Brady and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll have to see how the team fares next season.
