The Dallas Cowboys destroyed the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, 30-17.
Other than the obvious news, the game also marked the first regular season game featuring future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady in the booth.
Brady partnered with play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt for Fox Sports.
“You’re a broadcaster! How about that,” Burkhardt said, introducing the seven-time Super Bowl champion to the regional audience.
“We’re here,” Brady said.”It’s been quite a journey. I’m excited to be your partner.”
What followed was obviously Brady working out some kinks in his broadcasting methods.
In his defense, color commentary is hard, and it’s a different beast entirely despite having a vast reservoir of knowledge like Brady.
He’s cleary trying to distill that intricate knowledge into something palatable for the average fan. Still, if his reviews on Twitter, the social media platform currently marketed as X, are anything to go by, he’ll have to get in the film room this week to improve his performance.
The NFL world was quick to react to the horrible performance:
Maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady actually say words before dropping $300 million on him.

I don’t know how else to say it but Tom Brady does not have a voice that is meant to be heard without seeing his face.

Half way through the 1st quarter
I expect Tom Brady to be playing by week 4

I don't want to overreact to week 1 but Tom Brady is the worst announcer in the NFL.

Tom Brady just said it’s hard to make 10, but really hard to make 20 yards. That’s what $375 million worth of analysis gets you folks

Again, there is no reason for Fox Sports executives to panic about spending $375 million for Brady’s services despite his lack of experience. However, there’s obviously no guarantee yet that the money was wisely spent in the first place.
Only time will tell in that regard.
