Tom Brady has not played NFL football since the 2022 NFL season and is preparing for a brand new career as an analyst for Fox. But even at 47 years old nearly two years removed from the game, one of Brady’s former coaches thinks he would still be one of the best quarterbacks in the league if he came out of retirement.
During a recent appearance on on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, former New England Patriots offensive coordinator and Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis claimed that Tom Brady would still be among the best quarterbacks in the league if he came out of retirement and ended up in the right situation.
“I’d put him in the top 10 to top five if he was with the 49ers,” Weis said on the show. “If he was coming back with the Patriots, it would be more middle of the pack.”
Where would Tom Brady rank among NFL QBs today, if he just came back at age 47? Charlie Weis: "Top 10, to top 5, if it were the 49ers." "If it were the Patriots, I'd probably say more middle of the pack." @WEEI pic.twitter.com/IwFAlZHtwx

That said, Weis does not think that Brady will come out of retirement again due to the impact he believes it would have on his relationship with his children.
“I think his kids would disown him,” Weis said.
Brady will now step into a new career as a broadcaster for Fox, taking over as the network’s top analyst.
