Various outlets are reporting that Vince Young has signed a one-year-deal with the Green Bay Packers. The Pack brought Young in for a tryout today and the UT Alum impressed enough to earn his keep as Aaron Rodgers’ understudy.
This isn’t what you would call a “typical” Packers’ move, but the Packer brass have decided the pros outweigh the cons of signing the talented, but troubled quarterback.
Young was drafted 3rd overall by Tennessee in the 2006 NFL Draft. His career got off to an auspicious start and VY was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2006.
Eventually defenses in the league figured Young out and he began to struggle mightily with the Titans before moving on to Philadelphia. Young spent only one season in the City of Brotherly Love, going 1-2 as a starter.
Last season the Bills took a flyer on Young but he never played for them. Now it seems that the Packers will kick the tires on the 2x Rose Bowl MVP.
