Terrell Owens was a guest on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday and the 41 year-old Owens divulged that his agent contacted the Dallas Cowboys after Dez Bryant went down with a broken foot bone in the Cowboys season opener.
When Eisen asked Owens what the Cowboys response was to his agent’s call, Owens admitted that he’s not sure:
“I’m not sure what the situation is. You know, my name may have come up in discussion as far as bringing me in but again a lot of people are going to be factoring in my age as far as why I can’t play. We all know what happened when I was there and there were some things said where it may have fractured, you know, the relationship between myself and Witten and Romo. But again, time has passed and hopefully I’ve moved on beyond that and maybe, hopefully, they have. But for me, it’s all about getting myself an opportunity. That’s all I’ve ever really wanted.”
The relationship between Owens and Romo and Witten was reliable sports fodder during his tenure in Dallas. However, Owens told Eisen that there were plenty of reasons why he’d like to be a Cowboy again:
“Why wouldn’t I want to go back to somewhere where I know I felt at home? I know the owner. I was there with some of the guys who are still there. I loved my time in Dallas.”
Whether the Cowboys would actually entertain bringing back a 41 year-old Terrell Owens is an entirely different story. Dez Bryant is expected to be out for the next 10-12 weeks.
