Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is one of the hottest romances in the world at the moment.
Swift created headlines over the weekend by attending the Chiefs’ victory over the Miami Dolphins in the opening week of the NFL playoffs. Swift donned a custom Kelce jacket made out of one of his jerseys to brave the record-low temperatures in Kansas City for the game.
Peacock, who broadcasted the game exclusively on its streaming platform, showed copious amounts of Swift throughout the game. While it makes sense to show one of the most famous pop icons on the planet to feed new fans she brings to the sport, the move undoubtedly didn’t sit well with NFL Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy.
Speaking before the game to Fox News, Dungy blamed Swift for “disenchanting” sports fans.
“That’s the thing that’s disenchanting people with sports now,” Dungy said. “There’s so much on the outside coming in. Entertainment value and different things taking away from what really happens on the field.”
Swift did not immediately respond to the criticism. It is not yet known if she will attend the next Chiefs game, which could be on the road against the Buffalo Bills or at home against the Houston Texans, depending on the result of tonight’s Bills clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
