When Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce began dating Taylor Swift a few months ago, he knew that he was beginning a relationship with arguably the most famous woman on the planet. But as it turns out, she is more than that – she is actually distant royalty.
According to some research from the global family history platform MyHeritage via The Daily Mail, Taylor Swift is actually a distant relative of the famous French King Louis XIV. The research determined that the pop superstar is the 8th cousin (11 times removed) of the iconic French monarch.
Known by his nickname “The Sun King,” Louis XIV reigned for 72 years and 110 days – the longest reign of any sovereign. He also played an integral part in French history as he was the king responsible for building the lavish Palace of Versailles.
Obviously, it’s pretty shocking news to learn that Swift is related to one of the most famous monarchs in global history, and the news led to a lot of reactions on social media.
