Before she began dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift was in a relationship with actor Joe Alwyn for about six and a half years. While Alwyn has not shared much about their relationship in the past, he discussed it briefly in a recent interview.

Joe Alwyn recently spoke to The Guardian about his upcoming film, “The Brutalist.” During the conversation, he was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift.

In the interview, Alwyn was questioned about whether his relationship with the pop sensation had the potential to overshadow his acting career.

Alwyn did not give credence to that idea.

“I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control,” Alwyn said. “And, right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course. So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it.”

He emphasized that this approach was the most sensible way to handle such situations.

“If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behaviour, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty [screwed],” he said.

Alwyn also made it clear that he has moved on from the relationship and he called out Taylor Swift fans a bit, saying that he believes it’s time for others to do the same.

“That’s something for other people to do,” he said. “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel.”

Needless to say, these comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“Suddenly he can talk about her when he has a movie to promote?” someone wrote in a post on X.

“By ‘other people’ he means Swifties,” another person wrote.

“Just so we’re clear but his point was not that Taylor needed to move on but that the fans and the media need to move on and from what I read in this article it’s definitely nothing negative towards Taylor just so everyone’s aware,” someone else said.

“Taylor will be 50 and swifties will still be talking about this relationship,” another person added.

“he’s right. I don’t know how anyone can argue otherwise. it’s been 2 years,” someone else said.

“Yes, everyone should stop bringing Taylor into anything that has to do with her ex of almost 2 years,” another added.

Meanwhile, Swift appears to be happy in her relationship with Kelce.
