Being an NFL or college football referee would be an immensely difficult job. They are asked to identify oftentimes minimal infractions during a lightning quick play and although they usually see things correctly, they also routinely botch the most simple of calls.
Expecting them to determine if a receiver made a “football move” before losing control of the ball is one thing but correctly spotting the ball on a basic catch and tackle? Check out this pathetically wrong call in the Vikings-Lions game…not only did they call this a first down but they comfortably gave it to him:
