Over the past several years, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry has established himself as one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game. But as he nears the age where he can start planning his life after basketball, it sounds like he’s considering taking on a new challenge: politics.
During an interview on “CBS This Morning” on Tuesday, Steph Curry made it clear that he would be interested in a career in politics following his basketball career, and he did not rule out the possibility of running for president.
“Maybe,” Curry told CBS News national correspondent Jericka Duncan according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good in the way that I can so if that’s the way to do it,” Curry clarified. “I’m not going to say the presidency but if politics is a way that you can create meaningful change or if there’s another way outside of politics.”
But if that move happens, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be soon.
When pressed, Curry laughed off the idea of running for president during the next election in 2028.
“Not that soon,” Curry said.
But at 36 years old, he’d be eligible to run if he wanted to.
