The Pittsburgh Steelers crashed and burned to end the season. After losing their final four games of the regular season, Pittsburgh backed into the playoffs, but it lost its fifth consecutive game to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round.
Quarterback Russell Wilson’s play deteriorated as the season went on, and many have speculated that the Steelers will look to change direction for the 2025 season.
Now, according to one prominent Steelers insider, the Steelers may in fact be willing to move on from Wilson, and if they do they think the right guy to lead the offense is already in the building.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“sliding Daniel Jones in the top quarterbacks available like no one would notice,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I think Fields is a limited QB. But I would not sign one of those guys over him. I would roll the dice with Justin. See if he can grow and evolve as a player. Sam Darnold is by far the best of the bunch but he will not succeed in Pittsburgh under this roster or coaching,” one fan added.
“They need to see what they have in fields. Give him a real shot,” another fan added.
“Well, yeah, I’d agree Fields would be the best of the group. I wouldn’t want any of those listed, and there is a reason they’ll be free agents,” someone else added.
“Yeah this free agency is weak in terms of QBs, run it back with Fields and if all else fails we draft a newbie in 2026,” a fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Fields can salvage a career as a starter in the league.
