The Pittsburgh Steelers had a downright pathetic close to their season, after completely collapsing and losing control of the AFC North with a four-game losing streak to close out the regular season, Pittsburgh dropped its fifth consecutive game in the Wild Card round to the Baltimore Ravens.
A large part of the Steelers’ struggles can be attributed to the diminishing performance of quarterback Russell Wilson as the Steelers progressed. Wilson struggled to not only avoid turnovers but also avoid sacks, which was a problem in particular that was exacerbated by shaky offensive line play.
It seems that the front office noticed that Wilson was a part of the issue.
“There have been no discussions between the (Steelers) and QB Russell Wilson regarding a return to the team next year,” reported Steelers Network on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I’m a Fields fan but even I know Steelers will bring Russ back. Russ is mediocre. But there’s also not franchise QBs just sitting around to sign or draft,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Good. I need him to be somewhere the oline can hold up!” one fan added.
“Don’t discuss anything let him go,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see where Wilson ends up if he’s not back in Pittsburgh.
