Tom Brady was obviously very successful as a quarterback due in large part to his ability to diagnose a defense and understand the game at a high level, and one former NFL star thinks that will translate quite well as Brady now moves into a career in broadcasting.
During a recent interview with Fox News, former NFL star linebacker Shawne Merriman did not hold back his praise for Tom Brady as he made it very clear that Brady’s way of both understanding the game and articulating it to others will separate him from other broadcasters as he steps into his new career.
“His ability to take you into a play mentally and articulate … people say things, and you can start envisioning [it] in your head,” Merriman told Fox News. “That’s what’s going to separate Tom Brady possibly from everyone else.
“And I’ve been on the short end of the stick with that, because I know how he analyzes the game. But his ability to articulate and have your mind track what he’s talking about, that’s how good he is. He may go down as one of the best to ever do it because he has so much knowledge of the game.
“But if you really, really look at Tom Brady and listen to him, he can articulate and make your brain track what he’s talking about. And that’s what’s going to separate him from everybody.”
Brady will begin his broadcasting career this upcoming season as he steps into the booth as an analyst for Fox.
