The Seattle Seahawks had a lot of buzz entering the season. Behind the arm and resurgence of quarterback Geno Smith, many expected the Seahawks to be in the playoffs and make a run winning the NFC West.
Unfortunately for Seattle, things didn’t quite pan out that way. Seattle finished the season 10-7. Although this was good enough to put Seattle in a tie for first place in the NFC West, the Los Angeles Rams won the division on tiebreakers, and the Seahawks were held out of the postseason.
Now, the disappointing season has its first casualty, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“Seahawks fired offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after one season, per sources,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Fans reacted to the firing on social media.
“OC got Geno to hit career highs in man categories and he’s fired for it. Cruel business,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“How does this make sense? It’s safe to say the offense wasn’t the problem in Seattle. Casual scapegoat,” added another fan.
“He helped UNLOCK Jaxson Smith-Njigba. It’s not his fault the Seahawks o-line is terrible. Bad move on the Seahawks part. You went 10-7 with a first-time head coach. Don’t make any changes on the coaching staff, fix the roster,” one fan added.
“Beautiful – should have been an assistant before given that much reign with no experience,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see who Seattle tabs to replace Grubb.
